- bill – an act passed by a legislative body
before it becomes a law
- committee – a group of Members in
Congress that work as a team to study national problems and suggest solutions
- veto – vote against; refuse to endorse; a vote
that blocks a decision; "The President vetoed the bill"
- veto override – In the United States, Congress
can override a presidential veto by having a two-thirds majority vote in
both the House of Representatives and Senate, thus enacting the bill into
law despite the president's veto.
- constituent – the residents of a district represented
by a Member of Congress
